Netgears home security system, Arlo, is a leading force in the smart home. In recent years it has had a huge amount of success, and now Netgear has spun it off as its own company. This will likely mean that Arlo will go beyond its smart home cameras to develop AI and various services, potentially in an attempt to have a chip at the big three tech companies; Apple, Amazon, and Google.
Arlo sources the majority of its revenue from sales of its devices, namely the Arlo cameras, but also from cloud storage services. Moving forward it seems the executives are keen to put Arlo on a track to offer more services, as currently their services just generate 8% of their revenue. This is certainly a space to watch!
