The LG OLED B7 and OLED C7 are the entry-level options of LG 4K TV range in 2017. Although they exist at the entry level, they are outstanding and high-quality pieces of tech.

Overall, these are evenly matched smart TVs with some subtle differences. These differences are tiny differences in design and the B7A model having slightly less audio capability,

The LG OLED B7 and C7 come in just two very large sized options. Here is this information briefly summarized into the sizes available and corresponding model names matched against each other:

  • 55 Inch: OLED55B7A vs OLED55C7P
  • 65 Inch: OLED55B7A vs OLED65C7P

These models of Smart TV by LG sends a clear message about their 4K range; this is for the serious who want a true cinematic experience.

The available 55 and 65-inch options are particularly large considering they are the only two available. It should be noted that in Europe these are called the OLED55B7V and OLED55C7V, and OLED65B7V and OLED65C7V respectively.

2.Features

Next, we will dive deeper into the features of both the LG OLED B7 and C7 to highlight their principal specs as well as similarities and differences. There are mostly similarities betwefen these two LG 4K TVs with a few small minor differences.

Design

The design of both the LG OLED B7 and C7 are fairly similar, although there are minor discrepancies between the two.

They are described as “Blad Slim” which is pretty much what it says on the tin. The TVs are both remarkably slim with a silver finish.

A subtle difference is that the OLED B7 has a plastic stand with a translucent support frame whilst the OLED C7 has a metallic stand and support frame.

As we explain in our connectivity section further down the page, these two have the same number and types of connectivity and connection options such as HDMI. There is a difference in where they placed on each Smart TV though.

This difference is very subtle and should not impact your purchasing decision. Essentially, the layout of the two is slightly different at the back and sides of the TV.

The LG B7 and C7 have very similar dimensions and weight relative to the available 55 and 65-inch sizes. They are as follows without the stand included:

As you can see there is practically nothing in it between the LG B7 and C7. This little differences should make no impact on your decision, but they are certainly useful to know.

The LG B7 and C7 are both OLED display 4K TVs. The advanced Active HDR technology can adapt to a variety of formats which master each and every scene.

This means they are crystal clear with the standard 4K resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels.

Flat or Curved

Both the B7 and C7 are flat screen and not curved. This has been an area of confusion for some customers as LG have used the “C” in model names to indicate they are curved.

This is not the case in their 2017 lineup of Smart TVs and the C7 is resultingly flat and not curved,

Color

The LG OLED B7 and C7 have been incorporated with a variety of technologies to get the richest colors and quality of the video. This includes various technology which works synergistically for better video quality.

It isn’t important to get too concerned with exactly how these work and what they do as many of these styled terms and brands just marketing their devices.

From a comparison point of view, it is important to remember this too as ultimately these two Smart TVs are two peas out of the same pod. The technologies include:

  • Pixel level dimming
  • Ultra Luminance

Billion Rich colors give more precise and broader color options. The result is 64 times the number of colors compared to conventional LCD TVs.

The LG OLED HDR (high dynamic range) encompasses how a variety of bright colors and dark shades come together for the ultimate coloring scheme and infinite contrasts.

Pixel level dimming technology allows each individual pixel to dim its self. This is mostly to improve the black level precision of the picture.

Ultra Luminance works to provide a bright and clear display for both the lightest and darkest colors.

Both these Smart TVs use Perfect Black technology to create what they describe as an”unparalleled range of contrasts”. This is specific to their OLED TVs which older LEDs can even be compared too.

The OLED pixels create accurate colors presented on a perfectly black background.

The Ultra Luminance mentioned works with the Perfect Black to make the darkest of scenes crystal clear.

LG Magic Remote

The LG OLED B7 and C7 both use the LG Magic Remote. This ticks all the standard remote controls such as changing input and accessing the guide. It also provides the interface for the smart features in both TVs.

This remote can vary between countries, so we will focus on the US version.

It is a very feature rich remote with some of the latest and best smart tech available. This includes Voice Recognition tech with comes along with Intuitive Mouse Like Pointing and Wheel Control. This is essentially like a mouse on a PC.

There are also dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon Video which is a rapid way to access the most popular streaming apps on your device.

This is your principal way of interacting the LG webOS 3.5 software that we will discuss in a moment.

Refresh Rate

Both the LG OLED B7 and C7 have a 120Hz refresh rate.

The sound systems of both the LG B7 and C7 are evenly matched in hardware with almost identical specs. They are equipped with some Dolby hardware and software:

The Magic Link feature provides you with suggestions based on your previous viewings. For example, if you like cooking a certain kind of dish and have been watching tutorials, it can suggest more relevant recipes.

The Magic Link Zoom feature lets you zoom into any point of the screen to see more detail.

There is a music app feature which allows your Smart TV to be the center of your homes audio. Moving forward it is highly possible that Smart TVs could be the center of the smart home.

There is a high-security certificate to protect your privacy and data.

The features associated with the quality of video playback are equal, such as coloring technology and resolution.

A few minute differences come with the layout of the ports on the TVs and one variation of the LG B7 can’t use Dolby Atmos internally.
